The AI Insight

I Don't Stop Recording When Things Get Busy

It used to take hours and hours. Now it takes less than fifteen minutes.

I publish a podcast episode every week, and I take time off here and there, like over the summer holidays, but I don't stop recording when things get busy.

I used to. Recording doesn't take that long, but everything after it did, the show notes and the website podcast blog and the newsletter insert and editing and getting it all ready for the website, and that would take hours and hours.

That part now takes less than fifteen minutes, and that's why an episode still goes out every week.

The Build

My Podcast Workflow

Almost all of the work on a podcast happens after you stop recording, and if that part takes you half a day every week, you're going to skip episodes when you get busy. Here's what I do instead.

This week's workflow

I start with a conversation with AI to work out the outline, the questions, and the topics for the episode. I record in Descript, and Descript's own AI features clean up the recording before I export the transcript. Then I give that transcript to Claude, where a set of skills generates everything else I need: the clean transcript, title options, show notes, the SEO fields, the newsletter insert. I read through it, cut what doesn't sound like me, and publish.

Even the outline starts as a conversation with AI instead of a blank doc. I still read through everything at the end myself and take out anything that doesn't sound like me.

This week's episode came out of that workflow. In it I walk you through the AI in Action Summit session by session, what each speaker is showing you, what my three live sessions cover, how the week works, and what's in the VIP pass. Listen to the episode →

What Systems Do You Actually Have Running?

Almost everybody I talk to has been using AI for a couple of years now. They've got a paid subscription, they've watched the videos, they can tell you what an AI agent is. And then you ask them what systems they actually have running, and how any of it is helping them make money, and there's not much of an answer.

AI in Action Summit is 27 workshops from 22 creators showing the systems they've actually got running, prompts and tools and mistakes and all. Six of them are live. It's free, September 15 through 17.
