Stage 3 of 5 · Nurture

Your newsletter is where people get to know you

This is the step where people go from joining your list to trusting you enough to buy.

Every customer goes through the same five steps with your business. They find you, join your email list, get to know and trust you, buy from you, and then buy again and tell their friends.

Your newsletter is where that third step happens, and it works best when people can tell there's a real person writing it.

I run both of my businesses under brand names, Creator's MBA and HobbyScool, but I write the emails and I answer the replies.

At HobbyScool, when someone signs up for one of our events for the first time, I ask them to reply and tell me what hobby they're most interested in. People write back and tell me about the crafts they love, and I always write back to them.

That reply also helps your emails land in the inbox, because it shows their email provider a conversation between two people.

The 1% AI Move

Let AI Sort the Replies You Get

When people reply, their answers tell you what to teach and what to sell next.

That's a lot of emails to keep track of once they start coming in, and that's the part AI can help with.

Your move this week

Add one easy question to your welcome email, like what they're working on or what they'd most like help with, and answer every reply yourself.

Once you have a few weeks of replies, copy them into ChatGPT or Claude without the names and email addresses. Ask it to group them by what people want help with and tell you which topics come up the most.

Then you decide which of those to teach in your newsletter and which one could be something you sell.

Writing back is the part you do yourself, because people can tell when a real person answered them. AI helps you see what most of them are asking for once the replies add up.
