Your lead magnet is the leak

Nobody wants more homework. Here's what they want instead.

Go look at your downloads folder. It's a graveyard of PDFs you meant to read and never opened. Your audience has the same folder, and the freebie you're handing out right now is probably headed straight for it.

Here's the thing. A PDF lead magnet is homework. You give someone 30 pages and ask them to read it and then figure out how to use it. That's the exact work they were hoping you'd take off their plate.

It worked for 20 years because information was hard to find. That's over. Your reader can ask any AI tool the same question your PDF answers and get a faster, personalized answer in seconds. So people won't trade their email for information anymore. They'll only trade it for help.

I pulled together 26 creators who made the switch to interactive lead magnets, and the numbers are hard to argue with.

The pattern

51% opt-in on a plain fillable Google Doc. 80% on a short diagnostic. 366 new subscribers in 30 days on one small tool. Not one of them did it by writing a better PDF.

Your lead magnet is the front door of your whole business. It sits at the very start of your flywheel, in Attract, the moment a stranger decides whether you're worth their attention. If the front door is a PDF nobody opens, everything after it runs on people who never really experienced what you do. Fix the front door and you get subscribers who already got a win from you before they paid a cent. Those are the ones who buy.

The PDF isn't dead because it's bad. It's dead because the deal changed. People pay attention for help now, not homework.
