One File That Knows Your Program

Change one price and you have to go fix it everywhere you wrote it down.

When I raised my lifetime price on August 1, nine partner pages and nine partner notification emails updated in about 30 minutes. I told Claude the new price. That's the only thing I had to tell it.

That works because Claude already has one file with every number in my affiliate program: two commission rates, a cookie length, a payout schedule, the prices, the signup link. Those numbers repeat across the program page, the welcome email, the agreement, and every partner pack I hand out. Without that file, a price change means finding all of them by hand.

 

The Build

Make Your Program File This Morning

This takes one conversation. Open Claude and paste this:

This week's prompt

You're building my affiliate program reference file. Ask me one question at a time until you have: every offer an affiliate can promote and its current price, my commission rates and what each rate applies to, my cookie length, how and when I pay out, my affiliate signup link, and any rules my affiliate emails always follow. Then write the whole thing into one document, organized so you can reuse it any time I ask for affiliate outreach, swipe copy, or a program page update.

Answer the questions, save what it hands back, and paste it at the top of any affiliate conversation from now on. If you're on a paid plan, save it as a project instruction or a skill so it loads on its own.

Then test it. Ask Claude to draft a short pitch to one potential partner using the file. What comes back should have your real rates and your real link in it, with nothing invented. If a number is wrong, correct it in the file so the next draft comes out right. From then on, the file is what you update.

Time: about 20 minutes, most of it answering questions you already know the answers to.
