"Good lead magnets can go stale. Not because they were bad, but because everything around them keeps changing."

This Week, Behind the Scenes

I finally cleaned up all 21 of my lead magnets

What I cut, what I rebuilt, and the one question that made it simple.

This week, I asked AI to go through both of my brands and pull every single lead magnet I had, from my landing pages and my email sequences, into one list. When it came back, there were 21 of them. Twenty-one freebies, built at different times, for different offers, by a version of my business that does not really exist anymore.

These were good freebies. People were still downloading them, and most of them had a real customer journey built in back when I made them. But our online world moves fast. The journeys I set up a while ago were not working the way they used to, my offers had changed since then, and a lot of these simply needed to be modernized. So I had two jobs in front of me: bring the freebies up to date, and look at the customer journey behind each one again with where my business is today.

So I went through every one and asked a simple question. Where does this lead, and is that still the right journey? That one question changed everything. The freebies that fed HelloContent came down, since I closed that shop in June and they were pointing people at a door I had locked myself. Over in HobbyScool, I let go of an old travel packing spreadsheet that was bringing in travel folks instead of the makers who actually want our workshops.

Then I rebuilt the keepers by starting with the offer and working backwards. My Newsletter Profit Calculator used to be a clunky Google Sheet you had to copy and figure out on your own, so I rebuilt it into an interactive tool that gives you your number on the spot and then walks you toward the next right step. In HobbyScool I went even further and cut all the way down to a single lead magnet with one clear path.

I wrote the whole thing up, with the before and after screenshots and the exact three questions I used, so you can run this same audit on your own freebies this week.

Come Say Something

Let's talk tech stacks

Okay, confession time. I am a sucker for any post that lists out someone's tech stack. The tools, the reasons behind them, all of it. I will read the whole thing top to bottom. Are you the same, or is it just me?

I dropped my full tech stack inside our free community, and I would love for you to come add yours. What are you running right now, and is there a tool you have found lately that you cannot run your business without?
