I just got back from the New Media Summit in Austin, and honestly, I'm still processing everything.

I sat in rooms full of newsletter founders who are building real, profitable businesses from their audiences.

Not social media followings. Not algorithm-dependent reach.

Actual owned audiences who open emails, buy products, and show up week after week.

I came home with pages of notes, a few new collaborators, and one idea rattling around in my head that I keep coming back to: most creators are massively underestimating what their newsletter could be.

I want to share what I learned, and I think the best way to do that is together, in a real conversation.

The Mini Magazine Method: Why the Best Newsletters Feel Like Publications

One of the biggest ideas I brought back from Austin, and one I've been teaching inside the Newsletter Profit Club, is what I call the Mini Magazine Method.

It's the framework that separates newsletters people skim from newsletters people read.

The best newsletters don't feel like email marketing. They feel like a tiny, curated publication that arrives exactly when you were hoping it would.

At the conference, they highlighted All Healthy, a beautifully structured wellness newsletter, as a textbook example of this done right.

Every issue opens with a personal editor's note, moves through clearly named recurring sections, features a recipe, and closes with a meaningful quote.

Readers know what to expect.

They develop a habit of opening it and saving it in a special Gmail folder. And that habit is worth a lot, to advertisers, to subscription models, to anyone selling digital products.

In a new article, I walk through the full framework and show exactly how to apply it to your newsletter, whatever your niche.
